Biography/Statement
The object of this exhibition is to display a creative array of snowboards that are broken down into subsets and have a common identifying system that lie in those sets. These boards are meant to have ambiguous tendencies that are left up to the viewer to interpret for their own, however the intention of each set is to appeal to viewers that want to see variety in the snowboarding culture. Different mediums we’re used to create these pieces ranging from illustrations refined with Adobe Illustrator to photos and effects used in Adobe Photoshop to manipulate the imagery depicted. The logos that have been created in Illustrator are meant to tie to the specific sets as well and are also branded on the boards to which set they are assigned. Throughout the course of this project I’ve experienced new ways to generate and render works to create different compositions. Self-reflections have subsequently taken presence in these boards additionally due to my experience as an avid snowboarder. Being around the culture for many years, I have seen hundreds of snowboard designs and as a result I set out to make boards that would appeal to a large demographic while maintaining a sense of originality.
